A Sheer Delight
Debbie Nuttall Artist | a close up of a painting with a rainbow in the middle

I had a wonderful couple of days completing this painting which I have called Sheer Delight. Acrylic on canvas, this is a painting that I started sometime ago and waited till I had that "feeling" that now was the time to finish it. It was quite frustrating literally watching paint dry, to see whether or not it was finished! Always difficult to know until the paint is dry ….. I judge my paintings on how I feel when the paint is dry.

I have one painting that has been waiting a year or so for that feeling. It has to have three strokes added to it to represent a stone circle on Dartmoor. But I can only do "the strokes" when i feel "right" as they are so important to the picture - their size, position and density of colour. One day soon...!!!!!

A visit to Lake Como in June was a painting with every step, around every corner and I fell in love with Italy all over again.

The Kettle's Yard gallery was conceived as a “living place where works of art could be enjoyed” by Jim & Helen Ede. Entry to the house is gained by pulling on a door bell, continuing a tradition of 'open house' started by Ede. This link is to an interesting article about Jim Ede and the birth of Kettle’s Yard.
